Double-Decker Love.

The much loved Double-Decker buses of Britain, are being converted into temporary living quarters, inorder to meet the needs of comfortable and affordable short term accomodation.  These state of the art buses provide a lounge/dining area, and all the latest mod cons and conviences.  As well as being environmentally friendly, Britain still gets to keep the much loved iconic symbol of the red double decker bus.

It’s nice to see that there are always alternatives to recyling things that we no longer have use for!

Maybe living in a double-decker bus either permanently or temporarily, isn’t everyone’s ideal choice of home. But it’s most certainly a weird way of living, in a Eco-Friendly way.

Hobbit House

By now all of you have heard of “Lord of the Rings.” one of the most fascinating aspects of this story for me are the underground (earth bermed homes of the Hobbits)

For those of  you are interested in Eco-Friendly living, an underground energy efficient home excels. Natural heating and cooling can save as much as 85% on your energy bill. And for those of you who dread those Winter months, why not hibernate in hobbit style and ditch those thermal slippers.

As Cold As Ice

Ice Hotel, sweeden,Arne Bergh & Oke Larsson, 2005, joa

In 1989 the world’s first ice hotel was built near the village of Jukkasjarvi, Kiruna, Sweden. The entire hotel is made entirely out of iceblocks, including the glasses in the bar. The first guests to actually occupy the hotel, slept in sleeping bags on top of reindeer skin, due to a lack of accomadation in the town.

So girls, if your husband accuses you of being an Ice Queen, maybe a romantic weekend in Sweden could inject some passion back into your life.

“As bizarre as it may seem, the sample jars brimming with cloudy, reddish rainwater in Godfrey Louis’s laboratory in southern India may hold, well, aliens.”

NAZI flying saucer

NAZI UFO

It is believed by some people that the Germans were working on a flying saucer during the 1940. The principle of this vehicle is based on the Coanda effect. It is also believed that the development of the AVRO CAR comes directly from the work done in Germany during the 1940.

The fact that world governments have hidden this knowledge from the rest of us and the existence of flying saucers is only revealed by the crop circles found in the South of England shows that the major governments of the world are hiding something!

Dark Matter Halo

We believe that most of the matter in the universe is dark, i.e. cannot be detected from the light which it emits (or fails to emit). This is “stuff” which cannot be seen directly — so what makes us think that it exists at all?

We believe that our galaxy is surrounded by an enormous spherical cloud of dark matter: material which is not composed of ordinary protons, electrons and neutrons, but of some other sort of elementary particles. As its name indicates, this material doesn’t emit as much light per kilogram as stars do.

Why do we believe in this mysterious material?

 ”Keplerian rotation.”

Crop Circles

 crop-circles.jpg

Over the years, crop formations have evolved from simple circles to doubles, triples and multiples. Rings then began to surround the circles until around 1990, when new design elements began to appear, including lengthy hieroglyphics

For those of you who are interested in  aliens and crop circles, link to the above website.

Is there anybody out there, or are crop circles just a complete hoax. whatever you believe, one cannot help but admire the intricate and complex geometric patterns, that for some strange reason, usually appear in wheat fields mostly in England. Wheatabix has never been more interesting.

You can use Excel to produce sound

Posted in Music on February 9, 2008 by philipvonk

As most people know sound is a wave motion. The frequency of middle “C” is 440Hz, this means that at this frequency 440 revolutions are made per second. As one revolution mathematically is 2pi or (2 x (22/7)) then a time scale (x axis) can be built up using these two factors. The amplitude (y-axis) is found from the sin of the value on the x-axis.

excel-tables-for-middle-c.jpg

An whole octave can be made up using the relationship f = 2^(n/12) x 440 Hz. on an Excel spreadsheet.

And by combining the appropriate notes a chord can be simulated.

So sound is made using Excel
